MB 300SL Gullwing Celebrates 50th Anniversary

international unveiling of its now-legendary 300SL Gullwing coupe at
the New York Auto Show. An

that still unveils most new cars at European shows, the New York
debut recognized the unique appeal of the 300SL in the U.S. market.

current SL500 is the first SL with a automatic retractable hardtop

J.D. Power and Associates Says Consumer Awareness
of Hybrid on the Rise
WESTLAKE
VILLAGE, Calif., April 6/ -- With U.S. gas prices continuing to
spike, more consumers will be looking at vehicles with clean diesel
engines or hybrid electric powertrains to provide some relief at the
pump, according to J.D. Power and Associates.
The
study of 7,126 consumers who purchased a new light vehicle in the
past three years, finds that more than 75 percent of respondents
express an awareness of hybrid electric powertrain technology, while
40 percent indicate an awareness of clean diesel engine technology.
Hyundai Motor America Puts Women in the Driver's
Seat at Safety Seminar

YORK, April 6 / -- Today at Show Piers on the Hudson thirty
professional women participated in Hyundai Motor America's defensive
driving seminar, A Girlfriend's Guide to DefenSAFE Driving.
Racing veteran, Lyn St. James, the only woman to be named
Indy 500 Rookie of the Year, and other top female drivers conducted
the course that concentrated on life-saving driving techniques,
including threshold braking (extreme braking without skidding),
steering correction and skid control.
A
new survey indicates that although women are skilled drivers, some
aspect of driving intimidates 64 percent of them, and 45 percent are
most concerned with regaining control of a car to avoid an accident.
CarMax Foundation Gives a Boost to Protect Older
Kids
RICHMOND,
Va., April 6 / -- CarMax, Inc., the nation's leading specialty
retailer of used vehicles, and the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy
Babies Coalition (HMHB) announced today that the CarMax Foundation
has made a $50,000 donation to fund the immediate startup of the
National Partnership on Booster Seat Safety.
The
partnership will serve as a catalyst to increase usage of booster
seats. Booster seats
make standard seat belts better fit children, primarily
4-to-8-year-olds, who have outgrown forward-facing child seats.
The National Partnership on Booster Seat Safety will share
messages about booster seat safety with health care professionals,
public health organizations, schools, corporations and policymakers.
Walter P. Chrysler Museum
Will Host First-Ever Collection of Chrysler Classic, Custom and
Concept Vehicles
AUBURN
HILLS, Mich., April 7/ -- The Walter P. Chrysler Museum will present
Inspired Chrysler Design: The Art of Driving, an all-Chrysler
special exhibition featuring extraordinary cars spanning eight
decades, Thursday, May 27 - Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004.
The exhibition will showcase
vehicles recognized for design and engineering excellence from
distinguished private collections, the Museum Collection and the
Chrysler Design Group. Among
the more than 25 cars assembled for the collection are a 1924
Chrysler B-70 Phaeton, a 1932 Chrysler Imperial Speedster,
custom-built for Walter P. Chrysler and a 1941 Chrysler Newport
Phaeton concept.
